In this issue we present a survey of the most important materials the Chinese have used to hold the aromatic concoction of tobacco, spices and salt. From the collection of Michael Kaynes, cover shows glass snuff bottles, carved (ground) with traditional decorations, imitating bottles made of hard and semiprecious stones.
