Tokyo Gendai is Japan’s international art fair, connecting Japan with the global art world.
From emerging voices to globally-renowned masters, leading galleries from around the world present the best of contemporary art. In addition to a place to discover and purchase art, Tokyo Gendai is a platform for cross-cultural exchange, sparking connections between Japan’s art scene and the global art community.
The fourth edition will be held at PACIFICO Yokohama from 11 – 13 September 2026 (VIP Preview and Vernissage on 10 September).
Tokyo Gendai returns to PACIFICO Yokohama from 11–13 September 2026. This year’s edition brings together leading galleries and artists from Japan, Europe, the Americas, Asia, Oceania, and beyond, presenting an ambitious and multidisciplinary showcase of contemporary art. Taking place at the start of Japan’s traditional cultural season, Tokyo Gendai offers an unmissable opportunity to experience the very forefront of the global art ecosystem.
Presentations by globally active galleries unfold across thematic sectors. Alongside the flagship Galleries, Hana ‘Flower’, and Eda ‘Branch’ sectors, a new sector is introduced for 2026: Miki ‘Trunk’, dedicated to works on paper and printed matter, including photography. The returning Tane ‘Seed’ sector, dedicated to digital media, also makes its comeback after a two-year absence — together, the sectors bring the full breadth of contemporary art practice to life across the fairgrounds.
