Amy Sanders Clague (1932–2020)

Amy Sanders Clague died on 17 June 2020. She was born in El Paso, Texas, and educated at Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts. She lived in Phoenix, Arizona, for fifty years, becoming involved with Phoenix Art Museum in the 1970s, first as development director (1978–82) and later as a member of the Board of Trustees, beginning in 1993. She was a founding member of the museum’s Asian Arts Council, formed in 1985, and served as its president from 1986 to 1988. Through all these years she supported the museum in collecting and exhibiting Asian art, as well as building her own collection of Asian art and of contemporary crafts from both Asia and the West.
