Caron Smith, Fabled Journeys in Asian Art
Journeys drive narratives that observe and measure transformation, pursuit, the
passage of time and change. They are found the world over in religions, histories,
myths and legends—in literature and in art. With the museum celebrating the passage
of twenty years since its inception and moving to a future with new intentions, the
author examines works in the collection that are inspired by journeys and embody what
Laozi described as the ‘incessant phenomenon of change’.
