Subhasini Aryan. Two Composite Images from the Baijnath temple in Kangra district, Himachal Pradesh

The sikhara-style stone temple at Baijnath dedicated to Shiva in his aspect as Lord of
Physicians is a major centre of pilgrimage in Himachal Pradesh, India. The present
structure was built in 1204 and stands on the ruins of an older shrine, said to have
been erected in the 7th century. The interior and external walls are embellished with
numerous images carved in high relief. The article focuses on two composite images of
Hari-Hara Dandapani and Vasudeva-Kamalaja that have as yet received little attention.
