Anthony Wu. Chinese Works of Art Auction Highlights—Autumn 2017
The most recent series of auctions for Chinese works of art at Bonhams, Christie’s and Sotheby’s was considered by market experts to contain some of the most exciting items offered in the past couple of years. Major collections appeared on the auction block and numerous records were broken, especially in the categories of Song and Ming ceramics. In addition, stalwart prices were achieved for Qing porcelain, archaic and Qianlong period jades, classical furniture, and Buddhist bronzes. Despite the majority of top pieces still being offered in Hong Kong, there were many surprises in the European and American salerooms as well.
