Margaret Tao. Asia Week New York Auctions – September 2015
Although New York probably hosted more sales last autumn than ever before in a September Asia Week, there was a definite chill in the market. It would be unrealistic to compare this Asia week to the unusually brilliant March sales series with the once-in-a-lifetime auctions of Robert Ellsworth’s collection. However, even given the generally quieter mood of September sales, attendance was down, with increasingly selective bidding, strong resistance by Chinese clients to lots with high estimates, and overall lower sell-through rates than the previous year.
