The Exploits of Akbar

Water: A Japanese View

The Singapore Syndrome

Sri Lanka’s Living Legend

Cover. The most outstanding of the seven Mughal era histories of the Emperor Akbar is the Akbar Nama, the official chronicle of the reign written by Akbar’s closest friend and confessor, Abu’l Fazl. For the non-specialist the most interesting part of the Akbar Nama is the miniatures that so finely detail every important event in Akbar’s life. Each painting was done by two or three artists, and all are in the mature style of Akbari painting of the 1590s. Our cover is detail of the attempted assassination of Akbar at Delhi in 1563.
