Helen Ibbitson Jessup. Restoring the Baphuon: An Interview with Pascal Royere

Pascal Royère, an architect with the École française d’Extrême-Orient, was in charge of the project to restore the 11th century Baphuon, a temple at Angkor and one of Cambodia’s most important monuments. Here he talks to Helen Ibbitson Jessup about the various bids throughout history to restore the Baphuon, and how his team’s efforts, which began in 1995 and were only completed in 2011, succeeded where others had failed.
