    Catalogue accompanying a travelling exhibition opening at the Honolulu Academy of Arts of over 100 works of Buddhist art from Bhutan. The majority of exhibits come from temples and monasteries where they continue to be used in ritual practice. Most of the items have never been published or previously exhibited. Each object is illustrated in a full page colour plate and described in detail. Twelve accompanying essays. A very fine survey of Bhutanese Buddhist art.

    A further two volumes in the series and illustrated in fine colour plates and describing a total of 601 superb jade objects in the Palace Museum, Beijing. The first volume shows 332 jades from the Neolithic to the Ming period and the second illustrates 269 Qing examples. Close examination of this work with the three previously-published volumes in the series on jade shows that the majority of the material in these two volumes is new. The duplicated pieces have been rephotographed and English captions have been added. Titles to each section and captions in English. Main text in Chinese.

    Published in conjunction with an exhibition at the Jiading Museum near Shanghai celebrating and investigating the tradition of this bamboo carving centre. Sixty fine examples dating from the Ming and Qing periods, many loaned from overseas collections, most notably that of the editor, are illustrated in colour (with multiple views and showing close-up details) and described. Informative introductory essays. Near dual text in Chinese and English. An excellent reference.

    Catalogue of an important retrospective at The National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo of the ceramic art of the modern potter, Mineo Okabe.
